His relentless pursuit of excellence led him to graduate at the top of his class from apprenticeship school, mastering stone masonry, bricklaying, and architectural drawing.
In 1990, Gerry embarked on a life-changing journey to the United States, initially residing in Boston before returning to Ireland to complete his apprenticeship. In 1993, he returned to the U.S., where he connected with a masonry company linked to his Irish roots, based in San Jose. From there, he transitioned into more creative roles, working on custom masonry for luxury homes. While striving towards his goal of becoming a contractor, he simultaneously attended evening classes at Heald Business College, earning an Associate's degree in accounting.
However, Gerry's dedication didn't stop there; he embraced the call of duty and joined the US Army Reserves as a heartfelt expression of gratitude to the nation that had welcomed him. This move spoke volumes about his patriotism and willingness to give back to his adopted homeland.
Gerry realized his dream and established his own thriving masonry company, Artisan Masonry, in 1997. His childhood lessons in timeliness and attention to detail served as the foundation for his work. As a contractor, he honed essential skills in marketing, negotiation, and collaboration, ensuring projects were completed on schedule.
Nevertheless, when health issues and complications from a vehicle accident forced him to step away from masonry, Gerry's resilience and adaptability shone through. Instead of settling for a passive role, he embraced a new challenge. At the suggestion of his REALTOR® who had assisted him in purchasing his own home in 2001, Gerry ventured into the real estate industry. Today, Gerry brings his real estate clients the benefit of his extensive experience as a contractor, coupled with his unwavering commitment to honesty and hard work.
